['You did good,' like that means anything to him!! ...It does, a lot, and Scott can't stop himself from smiling, the sullenness from before all but disappearing. The present he picked wasn't stupid and Dazai honestly likes it. Yeah, it's kind of baggy, but it sort of suits him.

(often, dazai's smile are phony, a mask upon a mask upon a mask, but this time, it's awfully genuine. his bandaged hands come to his chin, his eyes closing as he taps the spot next to him with his foot.)
[Scott finally slides into the spot next to Dazai, because he doesn't have a reason to bail and escape from disappointment now.]

[Even though his eyes can't be seen, Scott still seems to visibly brighten, his voice even taking on a slightly more excited tone as he recounts the club meeting on the rooftop.]
I mean, sure, there weren't a whole bunch of us, but still a decent number. And the other teens were pretty chill too. I got to see a couple new abilities and I showed mine off too.
(dazai's hand, as always the only thing visible from his arm, extends to allow scott to take it and find solace in his ability. for once, remove the glasses, to find some peace in the embrace of numbness.)

It's weird that he's lived most of his life as 'normal,' but sometimes it's hard to remember that when all he can see is red now.

He even wrote like an entire notebook and gave theories on how my powers work, he's really fucking smart.

They've been off this entire time he's been talking to Dazai and it's not like he's forgotten, but it's getting more and more familiar just always having them on. It'd be so useful having the ability to control his optic blasts, turning them on and off whenever he wants to and not needing to rely on an object to keep them maintained.
