[He honestly feels pretty tired himself, because yeah, she's right. Serious conversations are A Lot, not to mention that he's been stressed about other things this past week and it's only now that he's started to unclench. Scott feels his eyes shut behind his shades, not moving from his spot on the bed as he answers her offhandedly.]
[For a moment, there's a bright sparkle in her eye as if she might make a joke about things beds are used for, but- she refrains and just rolls over onto her side to pillow her head more comfortably on his shoulder.]
Yeah.
[She just wants to be close to another person for a little longer. Someone who won't be angry at her, or disappointed, or upset -- just a friend.]
just realized now that scott already said that earlier whoops
Scott's not really thinking about the fact that Kotone may fall asleep next to him, mostly because he's already nodding off. Look, he's super comfortable and he likes her and if she's comfortable too... then cool. Yeah. He probably had a train of thought somewhere there, but it's definitely gone now, with his breaths evening out into a quiet slumber.]
listen it's called ~consistency~ 👌 (i didn't even notice)
[For as energetic as she tends to be during the day, she can crash at a moment's notice -- like a puppy or a toddler that wears themselves out with constant activity. It's still early enough in the afternoon that she's not afflicted by the same bone-deep weariness she's felt since the final battle with Nyx, that only comes on at night, but it's warm and comfortable here like this; with some of her stress easing, she can finally relax.
Curling just closer against his side, she tucks her head into his shoulder and closes her eyes with a soft exhale. The sound of his breathing evening out and the gentle rise and fall of his chest is enough to lull her into her own sleep. She at least has enough decorum to keep her hands to herself, wedged into her own chest instead of draped across his, but it's not a light doze like napping in class; these days, when she takes a nap, she is out. Good luck rousing her from this one, Scott.]
[He doesn't know how long it's been before Scott finds himself rousing from his light nap, probably not long, but he still feels a little groggy and out of it as his eyes open to his shielded world of red. Yeah, that's always something he has to adjust to, even now, because he still dreams in color and this is a reminder that everything is not the same to him. It kind of sucks--]
Holy shit--
[The angsty teen monologue is broken up when his brain finally registers that there's a girl-- Kotone sleeping right next to him and a startled yelp escapes him as he abruptly jerks from her and crashes to the floor in an undignified heap. Later, a small part of him will groan at him for wasting the opportunity and being a general loser for not enjoying the moment longer, but that part isn't in charge now! It hasn't woken up, or just simply stomped on by his initial shock and embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Bunny Scott is lying on the bed still, judging him from on top.]
[She doesn't sleep next to other people often enough to really be used to it, but she is very good at falling asleep just about anywhere. Scott's shoulder is loads more comfortable than precariously balancing her head on her hand in class was, so honestly, she could have stayed there longer if there wasn't a sudden loud crash!]
Huh?!
[She bolts upright with a sudden jolt of adrenaline, looking around and for a moment not totally sure where she is. This isn't the farmhouse...? Akira's room? No, wait, that's Bunny Scott, which means-
What is he doing down there. She peeks over the side of the bed, not sure if she should laugh or be concerned.]
[Scott just helplessly lies on the ground still, mostly out of embarrassment. He sort of hoped that Kotone would've slept through all that, but fate isn't really on his side. He finds himself flushing, but doesn't make any movement to get up from his sprawled position on the floor.]
[She doesn't laugh outright, but the bubbly tone of her voice is a clear indication that she's laughing on the inside as she slowly slides off the bed and sits next to his crumpled sprawl.]
What was it?
[Because it's funnier this way. If her literally almost killing him didn't make him hate her, she can probably tease him a little more, right? At least, if he was willing to fall asleep next to her, it probably means it's okay.]
Scott slowly sits up, wincing slightly, but he's okay. He lifts a hand to rub his head and eventually starts to answer her, even though he partially wants the ground to just swallow him whole right now. Can he be even less cool?!]
Uh. [......] A cockroach. But it's gone, scattered somewhere.
[Convincing. Although, hmmm...] I think it might be behind you, Kotone.
[She musters up a proper scream and scrambles to her feet, backing away from the bed with an expression of disgusted terror and channels her inner Yukari.]
[He may not fully realize that she's playing along, but Scott finds himself bursting into laughter anyway, watching her scramble to her feet and swat the imaginary bug. Guess even she's not immune to the thought of a gross ass bug crawling around her body.
Not that many people would. Him included.
After a moment, Scott decides to help calm her down, because she's definitely a little freaked out, right? Right.]
I-I think you got it. [He's still giggling-- laughing a little. Totally chortling.] Unless you want me to double check.
[Right, totally. She's about to dive into his arms to protect her from the big scary bug.]
Check! Check! [She keeps patting at her arms as if it might somehow still be on her, though she's having trouble keeping her expression worried and not mischievous.] My team used to have to fight these giant armored beetles, make sure it's not a tiny one of those!
[He manages to get his laughter under control as he pretends to check her arms and back for any mischievous bug, but Scott doesn't try very long for obvious reasons. Also what does she mean by giant armored beetles.....]
Pretty sure you frightened it off.
[Scott hasn't let go of Kotone or pulled away from her, just sort of looking down at his friend with a slight smile.] Feelin' okay now?
[Don't worry about them or the fact that she had to collect their parts to give Theo for a quest-
The sparkle of delight is obvious in her eyes as he looks down at her, and she isn't sure if she can keep that frightened expression much longer, so she hides it by wrapping her arms around him for an impromptu hug now that they're so close. She has to lean up just a bit to rest her chin on his shoulder so he can't see her break into a silly grin, but really, it's as much relief as it is mischief. It's like everything is just normal like this.]
[Oh, has this become serious?? It feels like the mood has changed once more, or maybe he's just reading into things. But his momentary confusion doesn't last long, as he wraps his arms around her, returning the hug in a comforting embrace. What's he going to do, stand there like an idiot while a cute girl is hugging him? No!!]
Course, I'm your official bug-catching guy now.
[He says off handedly, a part of him wanting to express more than just that, but Scott clamps down on it. They're just being normal and hugging as friends in this fucking crazy world, that's all.]
[She laughs softly, eyes crinkling a little with the force of her smile as she squeezes him a little tighter.]
I'll remember you said that when I see a spider in a corner of the barn in the middle of the night.
[And maybe she lets herself stay there in his arms a little longer than is strictly proper, because even if things are patched up with Scott, there's still the lingering dread in the bottom of her heart that the others won't forgive her nearly so easily. Still, it's easier to ignore like this as she finally forces herself to draw back and clasp her hands behind her back.]
I should probably get going before I fall asleep again. You'll take care of Bunny Scott for me, right?
[He keeps a smile about him as she pulls away, only taking a glance back at Bunny Scott (who is definitely not judging him what are you talking about), before returning his attention to her and giving a slight nod. There's absolutely no way that he's brave enough to say that she can just stay over and stuff.]
He's safe with me. Scotts have to look after each other, especially if they're wearing red sunglasses.
[Maybe also he can sort out all his feelings about Kotone, especially the new ones he may be getting--] Uh, see you later, yeah?
[Surely Bunny Scott wouldn't judge a fellow Scott with glasses! She laughs at his assessment and just nods.]
Absolutely. Any time you wanna hang out, just let me know, okay?
[She can really use the company, after all. It's been a good reminder that as easy as it is to try to stay isolated, it's so much better to make sure she spends time with her friends. She'll have to make sure to keep it up.]
