But I got lucky, a mutant by the name of Hank McCoy created my special sunglasses. Without him, I'd still be grumbling somewhere and thinking that my life has ended.
[There's a flicker of amusement in his voice, some self-poking, because he's aware now that he was being rather dramatic back then. Of course, it was still hard dealing with that new change, but Scott won't deny that he had a certain attitude.]
I consider it a blessing that your eyelids weren't ruined by your powers! {That would have worsened the nightmare for poor Scott by far.} It isn't easy living in darkness and there must have been a time you couldn't help opening your eyes. Instincts can't be stopped.

I really am fortunate. I'm immune to my own powers, so luckily my eyelids-- and my eyeballs have remained intact.
[If he wasn't immune... yeah, that would be pretty bad. He'd probably be dead, honestly.]
Did my story help at all? You mentioned that you're going to ask the fae for new eyes... are you thinking about the possibility of them being powered in some way?
[Every so often, it is still nice to hear someone tell him that his powers are 'amazing.' Or that being a mutant is. He knows that acceptance in this world is much higher anyway, but the feeling doesn't change.]
It is difficult to manage sometimes, but if you feel confident about having powers from your eyes... I'd be happy to assist you in whatever way I can. Or even if you don't end up having powers, the offer remains.
