White, blue, purple... he thinks those are colors that Sophie would like. Guess he never asked and it's hard to tell what sort of colors she normally wears or covers her room.

[COUGH. ANYWAY... he closes his eyes before tugging his sunglasses off, his fingers wrapping around the frames before he holds them out to her. Maybe hiding a little behind closed eyes for a moment after that comment.]
[Cute??? Maelle blinks, slow to process the word, snd by the time it churns in her brain and her cheeks are red Scott's eyes are closed so she's spared. Spared from... something.
She takes the glasses and peers into them before putting them on. Her face feels hot. Must be the sunlight.]

[Technically, he was born with his powers, but they didn't activate until recently. Mutations are weird like that, he really doesn't understand why that happens-- why some people's powers activate immediately while others stay dormant until later on. Probably something that Hank would be able to answer, or maybe one of the other mutants. He wonders how different his life would be if his optic blasts activated when he was really young.
It would probably kind of suck. Did that happen to the other Scott in their timeline?]
...It actually just happened three days ago, before I arrived here. I've been a mutant here longer than back home. [Another strange thing to admit, but it's the truth. He's really only been a mutant for less than a year, even though its dominated his life. It's probably going to in the future as well.]
Oh. That's... I didn't know, I assumed you were... used to it. Like really used to it.
[That's what she gets for not asking. Maelle frowns, but then makes she it's not a deep frown as she takes the glasses off of her face. He probably feels silly, sitting there with his eyes shut.]
Don't jump. I'm going to give you your glasses back.
[And by that, she means carefully placing them on his face.]
[That gets him to smile just a little. He didn't know it would be surprising for others, but guess he's just known as the mutant with the eye beams. He'd probably be shocked in their shoes. Is this a good or bad thing that people are so surprised by this? One one hand, guess he's undoubtedly a mutant, but... that's going to be the thing that people will think about the most when talking with him, huh?
Whatever. It's fine. Probably. It's not like he had much to really say about himself before becoming a mutant.
But he takes his sunglasses back from her, slipping them back on and maybe easing just a bit now that his eyesight has returned. Without destroying anything. He fully trusted Maelle with it, but it's still nice to be able to look at her and everything around them.]
