[Right, because he had a really crappy childhood. He remembers that much. But now he's an adult and far away from home and... guess that means he can cry if he really wanted to. The strangeness of it all doesn't disappear and Scott isn't hoping for too much, but he still squares up and crosses his arms, his gaze fixated on the older man.]
Great, then you try crying now. I'll give it to you, just this once. [He's so charitable.]
I think you're asking me for too much for once. [Well, it's probably a correct assumption that getting Wriothesley to suddenly cry is well out of the cards. Even if he wanted to, he finds that it isn't something he can easily muster. He had spent too many years relying on chainsmoking and busted knuckles and tamping down his own feelings to pull himself to his feet to get where he was to suddenly let any of that falter.
Even if perhaps that was what he needed. Because it might be relieving after staring at the wall where a door used to be and forcing his way into Kizuna's suite only for it to be bare.
That the man will certainly spend many days tearing through the resort for Kizuna's statue and pilfering whatever belongings the man had that was in the staff room because it would be all he had left.
His chuckle is a little sad.] Even now, all I can consider is how to keep myself busy instead.
[What if he punches Wriothesley so hard that he wants to cry-- okay that's not really an option. And honestly, he understands the feeling of keeping yourself busy so you don't have to deal with shit. Isn't that how he reacted after Alex died? He didn't have too much time to process his brother's sudden death because Stryker kidnapped a bunch of mutants and they had to rescue them.
It definitely kept him distracted for a moment. And it was nice, until he had to actually deal with the loss. Then everything hurt all over again. It honestly still hurts to this day.
Those feelings never went away completely.]
...I guess I get it. [He looks up at him with a sad grimace] Wanting to distract yourself so you don't have to think about it.
[His smile falters for a moment but then he shrugs.]
It's not like I didn't expect it. You kind of have to live with the idea that people here can be gone in an instant. There's never any real time to prepare for it. [It's strange to always be confronted with his loneliness in this place. When one was so used to being content in solitary, finding oneself enduring loneliness has been a growing thing here.
His gaze drops to look at his hands.] Today though, I'd like to not be alone to my thoughts.
[It's true, no matter how painful it is. Or how much he wants to deny that notion. Even if it's not just this place, with people turning into stone unexpectedly, people can just... never come back. He had that first hard lesson with his brother. And while no one that he's become super attached to has left his life here, there's still some missing people and it's hard.
What if Wriothesley suddenly leaves his life without warning?
That thought alone gets him to reach forward, take one of those hands in his own before squeezing tightly. If he can at least be a little strong and dependable right now, someone that Wriothesley can lean on a bit...]
Well, luckily for you, I wasn't planning on leaving you alone. You're stuck with me, for the whole day.
