[It's not difficult to put two and two together, fully understanding what she's referencing to. Just... Gnosia stuff. At least, that's the assumption he's going with. Honestly, he'd be more surprised if Tendi was talking about something else entirely and a part of him just wants to just shove his face further into his knees, because he doesn't want to deal with this at all.
Although, he also wants to be stronger, better. He wants to stop worrying Kotone so much, but easier said than done.]
You... want to talk to me? Even about the terrible stuff? We don't really know each other.
[Not that has stopped Scott before, but a lot of time he's the one pestering others about this sort of thing.]
[Truthfully, Tendi doesn't have a good answer, here. They got off on exactly the wrong foot. He's right -- she doesn't really know anything about him. But...but he's just a kid, and he's clearly hurting, and no kid should have to go through any of that.
(Is she taking this a bit personally? She'll parse that later.)]
Well...yeah, but that's not so bad, right? Sometimes it's good hearing things from someone you don't know! That way, you know they're not just trying to protect your feelings.
[If she sounds a tiny bit uncertain on the last line, just. don't worry about it. She's trying.]
[He guesses she has a point there...? Scott's not sure how much he wants to discuss still, as he's not sure how to feel if Tendi ends up telling him that he is a terrible person for killing Ryoji, but maybe he needs to hear that?? Or. Something. He wonders if she's dealt with the glitching at all.
But she did hint about doing things she wasn't proud of, so... it sounds like she probably needs this too.]
Okay. [Scott eventually agrees after a few seconds, his voice quiet.] Where do you want to meet?
[It seems safer to keep travel to a minimum, since the glitches don't seem to have stopped. Besides, Tendi doesn't exactly have a wealth of ideas when it comes to meeting places...especially not places where they won't be overheard. Not that she plans to spill her guts, so to speak, and she's sure that's not his plan either, but still! Better to be safe, right?]
[And he'll give her directions to his home. Scott's still not entirely sure about this, but it's too late to back out. Besides, maybe the company of someone that he doesn't really know will be good, as she pointed out earlier. Talking to someone that doesn't know him at all and vice versa. No prior expectations.
Guess that's nice.] If you're coming over, bring a bunch of sandwiches.
[The sheer determination in her voice is both frightening and a little embarrassing. She's taking this on as a mission, dammit. She's done a lot of harm lately! And honestly even not just lately! So here she is, trying to do something good for someone else!
So after that one hour, she shows up at the address he gave, armed with like 5 gigantic bags. Did she cook a bunch of sandwiches? Absolutely not, homegirl is a terrible cook. Did she go to the diner and order one of everything on the menu?? You bet she did.
[Despite still feeling rather despondent about everything, Scott makes sure that looks at least semi-decent before Tendi shows up with food. He's at least showered the previous night, so it's just a matter of putting on regular clothes and combing his hair before he sits and waits for her to show up. Scott's honestly not sure what he's expecting from this, but if she's really coming here with sandwiches and everything, he probably can't complain too much. Doesn't fully erase the... anxiety? Anticipation? But he's honestly trying. Maybe anything is better than letting his thoughts slide back to the week previous, where he--
Scott nearly startles when there's a knock, just a little more skittish, but he manages to yell out 'I'm coming' before he shuffles over to open the door for her.]
Um, hey. Welcome. [There really is something almost quiet, nearly shy about Scott, a sharp contrast from when they first met. Although, the mutant soon sees all the bags in her hands and some of the tension breaks as his jaw drops in response. Like uh wow--]
Did you order everything from the diner?? [DOES SHE NOT KNOW WHAT SANDWICHES ARE AND JUST DID THIS??]
[For an instant, when Scott opens the door, Tendi wonders if she made a mistake. She barely knows him! What's she doing here trying to cheer him up?? But-- no, nope, can't think like that. They might have gotten off on the wrong foot, but they are definitely friends now (Scott has no say in this), and it's her job as a friend to cheer up her friend. So here comes the confidence!]
Yeah! I did! [Nailed it. Look, she does know what a sandwich is, for sure, but it's not like she knows what everything else is on the menu! And, I mean, what's the difference between a sandwich and a hamburger anyway? "Hash browns" sound like they definitely have some kind of sandwich component. Brown is a sandwich color. "Meatloaf" even has loaf in the name! Besides, she has no idea which sandwich he'd like, so...better safe than sorry!
Anyway, she sounds extremely pleased with herself by this solution of "I'll take one of everything, please," and she sticks out her arm, laden with a couple of the bags, to hand to him.]
Scott looks from her bright smile to where she's holding the bags out for him, just sort of stunned about her behavior in all this. There has to be some part of her that's nervous too, right? It's almost impossible to tell now. Tendi is not only acting like she's fine, as if the previous days haven't been weighing down on her, but she's treating Scott as if they're friends.
Did she really do all this for him?
It's that knowledge and some of that bubbly optimism that helps Scott. Maybe it's all a little much, but somewhere, he honestly appreciates all this. It's hard to explain why (mostly he feels a little embarrassed acknowledging how this is making him feel), but he takes the offered bags without fuss as a small smile starts to grow on him. He nods for Tendi to come in before leading her to the kitchen table so that they have a place to lay out all the food.]
You really put the cooks there to work. [He'll grab a couple of plates and forks for them as well, offering one to Tendi with a slightly more open demeanor.] I think we might have some leftovers after this...
