(he was NOT expecting that, fuck, the laughter makes him almost fall. the way his foot finds the floor, though, leaves a crate with how he stomped to find balance. what in the actual fuck.
he's just looking at it, with a very stupid look on his face. he's confused. to be nice about it.)
[Scott's broad grin immediately changes into one of shock, his expression almost comedic as he stares at Mikey's foot and the crater underneath it. Uh, what the hell?? A slackened jaw accompanies Scott as he slowly looks up to meet Mikey's gaze, a questioning look on him. Is that normal??
Judging by the expression on his friend's face, nope. Or maybe surprised at his own strength??]
[A part of Scott wants to exclaim how fucking cool Mikey is, like dude, literally breaking the ground with just your foot. Who else can do something like that?? It's only his friend's confusion about the whole matter that causes him to hold back, taking this just a little more seriously.]
Huh, well, if you're not eating more protein, maybe this place's done something to you? That happens every so often, right? [...Okay, maybe he can't fully hold back, because a smile crosses his face.]
Mikey, we totally gotta test this out now. [Weren't they supposed to help repair the building? Maybe they can still do both.]
That's... Probably it? I'm strong, but nobody can fucking do this on a stomp?
(okay... test it out, scott says, test it out... but how should one just freaking test it out? too bad for all involved that manjiro is not responsible, because his eyes search for the further thing he could break without too many issues...
and it's a chunky tree. he runs towards it, a flip in the air giving him more traction with the kick that he gives it, and it snaps out of the roots, falling onto branches that from the one behind him, breaking studied ones on the process.)
[He remembers Caitlyn's new ability, where she can control metal to some degree and it wasn't something she could do before. Maybe it's something like that? He doesn't think his friend is suddenly becoming a mutant, as awesome as that would be. Man, he'd honestly love that, being able to relate to his friend just a bit more, but he's not holding his breath. It's been him and Quentin for months now.
But he watches as Mikey speed towards a tree before fucking kicking it down, breaking its roots and just. Holy shit. That tree stood no chance-- the gang leader really is super strong now.
Okay, suddenly, he feels lucky that Mikey didn't crush his hand earlier.]
Dude.
[Scott breathes out, eyes a little wide behind his glasses.] That was incredible.
(here's the weird part for him. manjiro made scott feel good about his own situation - don't hate the situation you were born in, thanks to mitsuya, is carved in his brain. in this case, however, he's never felt so scared over his own capabilities. both know manjiro's strong point is physical fighting, and yet, then, he's guaranteed a victory. he's never liked weapons, when all he does is fist fight. this makes him a weapon, even more so.
but he can't be bitchy about it to scott. that would be shitty. so he's just taking a look at the tree, at his hands, at the tree again...
ah, he's fucked.)
... I guess you have another for the club, huh? How would you go training for this?
[Because Mikey's a close friend and he's certainly talented, so he'd fit right in! But taking this a little more seriously, because well, he noticed that the gang leader doesn't seem as excited about this as he thought he would be. Scott gets it, really. If you tell someone that he shoots lasers out of his eyes, they'd probably think that to be super cool. And it is, but also, there's a lot of other shit that kind of sucks.
Getting a new power can be hard, especially at first. Learning control and everything.
He starts walking over to Mikey, supportive, something almost self-assured about the mutant as he speaks.]
We can start small, Mikey. See what you can break and what your limits are. Learn how to adjust your strength when interacting with the stuff that you normally deal with.
(oh, manjiro thought it was super cool. he has always understood that there are complications in several levels, but it made scott into who he is. perhaps that's also true for mikey, but it's still too new and too fresh in his brain for him to accept it so quickly.
he will, but right now, he's a little scared of touching the other.)
[There doesn't seem to be any fear in Scott's expression as he takes Mikey's hand in his own, before leading him to go just a little deeper in the forest. Yeah, he still wants to focus on rebuilding the club, but helping Mikey with his new powers and learning about them seems even more important. He's sure that Kotone would understand.]
Okay, the first step in understanding your power is knowing the extent of it.
[Oh no, is he already quoting Professor Xavier? But that's really all he has to go off from, at least when it comes to emerging abilities. Plus, the advice is pretty useful, it's sort of helped Scott. It probably would've been more meaningful if he was at the mansion for more than two days. It's fine. He's not going to let that stop Scott from helping Mikey.]
We saw you kick a tree down. Let's see if there's any size that can stop you.
(for security reasons, mikey's hand won't close on the other's. scott might not fear it, but manjiro certainly does. it wouldn't be the first time he harmed someone he loves, but you know IF WE CAN PREVENT IT THE BETTER????
but alright. scott's the expert, and he just sees this as if it were a martial arts practice. he breathes, once and again, focused.)

Where should I kick, and how much force?
