Blunt, to the point, but maybe that's what Scott needs to hear right now anyway. His eyes finally draw away from his food to look up at Sophie, those sunglasses guarding his expression, though it really doesn't do much to hide his feelings. He's... maybe a little surprised? Touched in a small way. He's at least not feeling defensive, the teen not bothering to refute the whole 'needing her' bit. After being taken from his world, being isolated from everything he knows, it's a little nice to have someone kind of care about him.
Scott pokes a little bit at his eggs with a fork, not yet trying to eat.]
Do you always try to help out new mutants? Is that your thing? [...] Or am I just a special case?
Haha, nupe. Not my thing at all. If I'm super honest with you, our thing is mostly being powerful, hot, mean, and selfish. Me, on the other hand, I'm trying to be better, so, I have been trying to help our community at home. I don't see why I can't echo the sentiment here, so I picked you up. I'm as new as you are to this, though, so I'm probably going to suck sometimes. Teaching is more of my mum's thing, but hey. If you're willing, I'm willing.
(Great speech, amazing communications skills, inspires tons of trust, but hey!!! Honesty is good, right?)
[Hot, mean, and selfish..... yeah he can see that for sure.
But also.
He can see how Sophie is actually trying. Trying once again, with him, and this time, it feels like she's centering that attempt solely on him. She... really cares about him, huh? In her own way. Because he's a mutant. And that's enough, for now. Maybe. It feels more than what everyone else has done so far.
There's another poke at his food, though he actually scoops up some of the eggs this time.]

...You don't suck. Not really.
